New Phone. Who Dis?
So, recently I dropped my phone. Dropped it and it fell dead smack on the edge of the edge to leave a cracked screen and basically an unusable phone. I could hear my phone ring, would get notifications, but couldn't see a thing. My screen kept flickering and would intermittently allow me to access the home screen. Talk about beyond frustrated! Aaarggghhhh! π‘
Why am I telling you this? Because I got a new phone: the Samsung Note20 5G. And the headache that comes with transferring your data, making sure everything is still there and lastly, setting up your phone to behave and perform like the last one did. That's the part that's annoying as all hell. I don't see why people are so keen to getting a new phone every time a new one comes out. Here are my top 10 reasons why:
- My old phone, the Samsung Galaxy Note9, had a memory card. I could save as many photos, videos and docs I wanted. I loved that feature! The Note20 does not π;
- My contacts got mixed up. My groups were changed and duplicate entries were madeπ;
- My old phone knew all my shortcuts and connections;
- Some of my apps are now obsolete;
- Even though I backed up my phone, I still lost data.
- All my logins reset and I had to re-login or get password reminders;
- I had to get a new SIM card because the carrier changed (not too big a deal, but still...);
- Learning a new phone. This thing does all kinds of stuff that I don't need or want to take the time to learn;
- Setting up the phone and remembering what settings I had on my old phone I guess that's part of no. 6);
- And last but definitely, not least. Price. The new phones are basically the same price as paying rent. Or buying a small used vehicle. π³.
