My weight loss journey

I have been on a journey to lose weight since I turned 50. When I first moved here to Dallas from Seattle, I weight 155 pounds. That slowly increased to 165, but I was happy with that. I felt I was too skinny -- and unhealthy -- at 155, especially being at a height of 5'9". Then perimenopause kicked in and I ballooned to a whopping 204 pounds. I was NOT happy. I mean, yes, part of it was new relationship weight. You know that happy you-stop-exercising-and-eating-right-because-he-loves-me-how-I-am kinda weight.

All of a sudden my clothes didn't fit right, I had to go up in sizes. I felt winded climbing the stairs to my 3rd floor apartment. Whew! I knew it was time for a change. So I started keto. No to low carbs and high in fat. Well that was working out great until my gallbladder started going bonkers on me. So no more keto and low fat for me.

I had surgery to remove my gallbladder and ate broth and crackers for 2 weeks. I lost 10 pounds! Yes, you read that right -- TEN POUNDS. In two weeks. Fantastic! I mean, what's a little pain in the stomach if you can lose said stomach. I made sure to eat nothing with fat. I'm talking fat-free cheese, no fat yogurt, reduced fat peanut butter. I was doing everything to eliminate fat from my diet. First, so I wouldn't have a bad reaction to the fat content and second, because I was losing weight!

That started me on my journey. I joined WW (formerly Weight Watchers®) and lost even more weight. I reached my goal of 175. Now I'm working on my ultimate goal weight of being back to 165. I said all that to say that I will be sharing some of my recipes with you. So stay tuned...
